NEW LENGTHS! Early Window Treatment - Tobacco Cloth Panel
Finally! By popular demand, our weaver has created historically accurate window treatments in the Primitive style!
Tobacco cloth is a very old fabric with a lot of whimsy. It is a lightweight, thin loosely woven fabric with cotton in plain weave similar to cheesecloth. Color is a light ash-brown. It was used for pretty much everything, as shade covering for tobacco plants, for crinolines, tea bags, bandages and even curtains! Panel has a tab on the bottom for tying up on the left or right. Try hanging the cloth on jute instead of a rod. Many choose to hang as is or SOAK in cold water for 20 minutes, wring out, and line dry. Fabric will shrink to the sizes indicated. The look will be a slightly crinkled, soft, worn look - very primitive!
Three length choices:
40"x45" (54" before shrinking) $26.00ea
40"x63" (72" before shrinking) $30.00ea
40"x84" (93" before shrinking) $35.00ea
